PINS houses the longest stretch of undeveloped barrier island in the world, and is one of the main tourist destinations in South Texas. Past the dunes lie miles and miles of undeveloped coastal prairie and ephemeral wetlands, which make it a haven for all sorts of critters.

During my time in Texas, I was lucky enough to be involved with a research project looking at invertebrate communities of the freshwater wetlands on Padre Island. Pictured here is a friend of mine stretching out transect tape to prepare for some invertebrate sampling.
